Omar El Akkad describes a feeling I have had but could not put into words. The dissonance of knowing what is right, talking about what is wrong just to be met with the apolitical stare of someone who ‘Doesn’t know enough’ or ‘can’t really deal with the violence’, knowing fully well that in a few years these same people will be telling everyone how against these attrocities they’ve always been.

The fiction of moral convenience is a heavy theme in this book, so I am considering writing a side project about current media works that mirror this phenomenon. I’ve nearly finished the book, so a review will be out by the 20th of August.
